Now press play
Year 5 went to Paris virtually today. They donned some bright pink headphones and listened to a script which enable them to immerse themselves in a story where they went to Paris as an undercover agent. They pretended that they were paper delivery children, to help identify a criminal. They knocked on doors , whilst practising greetings when delivering newspapers. They really enjoyed acting out the experience.

The four seasons
Year 5 started a new topic, Les quartres saisons. They revised the months of the year and their birth dates and were able to say in which season their birthday falls. They then wrote down which months are in which season, matching them with pictures.
Year 5 started with a simple sentence which they then added a colour and size in. The sentence structure in French is different to English so a lot of concentration was required. They then played at being language detectives with a poem. They highlighted the words they already knew and annotated the poem with new words. They then used the poem to help them complete a recipe for a beach activity.
Writing descriptive sentences
Year 5 revised beach vocabulary and started looking at the structure of a simple sentence, identifying verbs, nouns and adjectives. They noticed that adjectives, especially colours are always written after the noun. They also looked at agreement of feminine nouns with adjectives. They then wrote sentences matching the start of the sentence with the ending after lots of pronunciation and listening.
At the beach
Year 5 practised beach scene vocabulary and adding a few new words which helped them to complete a wordsearch. They then practised numbers from 1-100, then had a lot of noisy fun playing an online game.
Numbers day in French
The children revised the numbers taught previously, then learnt the remainder of numbers to 100. They sang a song to practise their numbers, did a short quiz then learnt some maths vocabulary in French before using their knowledge of numbers to add numbers.
